Huskies Compete at Spike Shoe Invitational

BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University women's cross country team placed 10th out of 25 teams and the men's team placed 13th out of 24 teams at the Penn State University Spike Shoe Invitational on Saturday morning.

Amber Hackenberg (Middleberg/ Middleberg) led the way for the women finishing in 22nd place out of 314 runners in a time of 22:31. Beth Schwing (Hershey/ Lower Dauphin) was second among Bloomsburg runners, coming across the line in 49th place in a time of 23:09, while Angela Borealo (Easton /Easton) finished in 79th place in a time of 23:33.

The Huskies finished third among Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) schools, finishing behind Indiana (PA), who came in sixth place, and Kutztown who finished ninth.

For the men, Justin Shepherd (Cranberry Twp./ Seneca Valley) led the way, coming in 31st out of 295 runners, finishing the 5.2 mile course in a time 27:00. Second for the Huskies was Jimmy Stockley (Elverson/ Twin Valley), who finished 78th in a time of 27:58.

The men's team was third among PSAC schools, finishing behind East Stroudsburg and Slippery Rock.

The Huskies will be idle until October 7th when they race at the Penn State National Invitational at 10 a.m.
